FIFTY Ideas to Make a Difference: #1 – Stop Texting and Driving!

Although I generally try to stick to topics pertaining to interior design, as most of my readers may know from my blog on Wednesday, I turned fifty this week! As a productive way of honoring that momentous birthday, I have made a commitment to myself that I will focus on finding FIFTY ways to make a difference this year… ONE a WEEK! So, in other words, over the next twelve months, I would love to highlight one cause a week that truly makes a difference in this crazy world of ours! Maybe it will be an original idea of my own, or perhaps, it will be a FABULOUS idea someone else has shared with me. I would absolutely LOVE to feature some ideas from my readers, so please, share with me your input and insights!

For my first week, there is a cause about which I feel very passionately. My children originally inspired me to champion this cause, and when I saw Oprah Winfrey’s call to action on this very same topic (For more more information click here: “No Phone Zone”), I knew I was headed in the right direction! So, here it is…. Beginning with myself, I would like to find 50 people this year who are willing to pledge that they will stop texting and driving. I have been guilty of this act for quite a while, but have resisted giving up my dangerous habit for fear of “wasting” that valuable time spent texting in the car. But honestly, how many times have I taken my own life, the lives of my children, and the lives of other drivers into my hands, when I have taken my eyes off the road to text? Probably on far more occasions than I realize! So, I have committed that I will find other productive activities, or simply take some “down time” for myself , when I am driving. Will you join me in this cause? I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic, so feel free to comment.

NOW, GO HAVE AN “It’s So Fabulous!” DAY!
