Assemble Your Team

Determine first whether a kitchen makeover is in order, a renovation or a start from scratch.  You will need to assemble the right team members to fit the project.  The first person on your team should be a designer.

A good designer can help you navigate the myriad of details that will be forthcoming as you begin to design the most important room in the home.

A good designer also will help you simplify the process and help you save money in the long run.  A good designer will also help you with the assessment process with lots of questions for you to answer which will help with the function process of the project.

Budget

However you decide to design your kitchen, begin with a realistic budget in mind.  Your designer can help with this portion of the project as well.  Kitchen design projects can end up costing more than you think and careful budgeting is the only way to keep the price in check.  Comparison shopping is vital and being willing to give and take on a few items can really be important when trying to stay on budget.

Next post in this series begins to get into the actual design of your kitchen and we will explore layout.  Stay tuned and please be sure to ask any questions here that you might have regarding your own kitchen re-design.  Leave me a comment!
