“It’s So Fabulous!” DESIGN BOOK of the Week: As most of you probably know, my personal design style in my own home has heavy influences of French styling. This week’s design book is called Bringing Paris Home, written by fellow designer, Penny Drue Baird. The author captures the essence of Paris with her delicious photos and captivating anecdotes. Her focus is upon the design elements that are essential for creating  rich French interiors, including architectural details, furniture, and lighting.  She even includes a chapter with tips for finding shopping treasures in Paris’ most famous flea market!

“It’s So Fabulous!”  DESIGN HOME of the Week: Featured in the November issue of Elle Decor magazine, this week’s design space is a FABULOUS and immensely ELEGANT Manhattan apartment owned by designer, Suzanne Rheinstein! The photos speak a million words….

The antique French mantle is original to the apartment. The mural is by Bob Christian and serves as a backdrop for a Louis XVI chaise and a pair of 8th-century Italian gilt armchairs.

The cabinet and painting in the entry both date from the 18th century.

The bleached-oak table is 18th century, and the wing chairs are vintage.

The Louis XVI mirror was found at auction, and the columns are 18th-century French Provincial.

“It’s So Fabulous!” QUOTE of the Week: “Taste is relative, but to be positive and vital it must respect the past, accept the present and look forward with enthusiasm to the future.”

-Eleanor McMillen Brown, Sixty Years of Interior Design
