T.G.I.F. “Thank Goodness It’s So Fabulous!”

THIS FABULOUS FRIDAY, I HAVE FOUND…

“It’s So Fabulous!” DESIGN HOME of the Week: My choice for design home of the week is one that I have been drooling over in the August issue of Veranda Magazine for a couple of weeks now. It is a 17th century French Provençal that is absolutely magical.

“It’s So Fabulous!” BEAUTIFUL PLACE of the Week: As I was trying to make my final decision on which location in the world would be my BEAUTIFUL PLACE of the week,  I stopped to take a gander at the page of a fellow design blogger. The blog is called Habitually Chic, and for anyone who has not been there, you MUST go! This website is filled with such lovely photos and interesting facts. While I was visiting there, I coincidentally ran across photos of this amazing hotel in the south of France called La Bastide de Marie. According to a previous post on Habitually Chic, the hotel was also featured in the July issue of Vogue magazine. Since this destination literally made me want to run away (well, for one day, at least!), I figured that it must be my beautiful place of the week! Below is a snippet of the photos, but to see the rest, just click this link to Habitually Chic. It will leave you breathless!

“It’s So Fabulous!”  EXCITING FAMILY MOMENT of the Week: I am not certain if I have mentioned this before on my blog, but my youngest son, Holden, loves every sport known to man, and at the ripe old age of NINE, his passion is golf! In fact, he actually walks down to the country club in our neighborhood almost every afternoon – by HIMSELF! – and plays golf with men in their 20’s all the way up to men in their 70’s! It is quite a funny sight to see their faces, when they realize that this little guy is actually good enough to play with them. You can imagine that it is a giant source of entertainment at the club and around the golf community.
Holden enters tons of golf tournaments, and we were thrilled to learn that he hot 3 under par this week to win a summer long tournament! This accomplishment qualified him for the South Carolina Jr Golf Association State Tournament next week! We are so proud of him, and he is SOOOO excited!

“It’s So Fabulous!”  RECIPE of the Week: Here is a delicious recipe from Better Homes & Gardens that is very fresh and summery…..

Melon salad with Sweet Sesame Dressing

ingredients

  • 1/3 cup  sugar
  • 3 Tbsp.  champagne vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp.  kosher salt or salt
  • 1/2 tsp.  ground ginger
  • 3 Tbsp.  vegetable oil
  • 3 Tbsp.  extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1-1/2 tsp.  sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/2 tsp.  toasted sesame oil
  • Dash  cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups  cut up seedless watermelon
  • 2 cups  cut up cantaloupe
  • 2 cups  cut up honeydew
  • 1 cup  sliced English cucumber
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Snipped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Crisp cooked bacon, drained and crumbled (optional)

directions

1. In small saucepan combine sugar, vinegar, salt, and ginger. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Place in a medium bowl. Slowly add both oils to sugar mixture in a thin steady stream, whisking constantly until thickened. Stir in sesame seeds, sesame oil, and cayenne pepper; set aside.

2. In large bowl combine melon and cucumber. Add 1/2 cup of the dressing; toss to coat. Line salad bowls or a platter with lettuce; top with melon mixture. If desired, sprinkle with cilantro and bacon. Pass remaining dressing. Makes 6 servings.

“It’s So Fabulous!”  QUOTE of the Week:

“You don’t need to have a home that’s like anybody else’s. Take the ideas that speak to you. Use your imagination. Create something wonderful…”
—  Oprah
