T.G.I.F!! South Carolina Interior Designer Reflects, Looks Ahead and Makes a Resolution to Stay Present in 2013

South Carolina Interior Designer Makes New Years Resolutions

Reflections for a Sparkly and Fabulous New Year!

Being right smack dab in the middle of the holidays is a wonderful time to reflect on all of my accomplishments in 2012.  So many of us rush to make changes to our lives in the coming year, but this year, I am learning to appreciate, honor and most importantly, value myself and the energy and hard work I put into my business 365 days a year to make it the successful, bustling center of design and community it has grown to be.

After a year in reflection, I am looking for ways to simplify.  A simpler store to shop, a simpler way to buy the merchandise, a simpler way to decorate (do you see a theme here?).

Here are some of the great things that happened in 2012:

1.       We refreshed our website and increased our blog subsricbers

2.       We increased our facebook fans to over 1000.

3.       I was asked to speak on a prestigious panel about Southern Design.

4.       I taught  Style University.

5.       I made lots and lots of clients happy with new rooms in their homes; some even whole house re-do’s.

6.       We introduced a fabulous fabric department full of ideas and ways to make your home fresher and brighter!

What a fabulous year if I do say so myself!  I could not have accomplished all of these things without the support of my amazing friends, family and of course my terrific team at Knotting Hill Interiors.  For this I am truly…

Feeling rooted in gratitude – I am now ready to create my vision for the year ahead.  I have decided that my New Year’s intentions this year must begin with me.  They must begin with making self care for my mind, body and spirit my #1 priority.  If I am living a happy, healthy and balanced life – that will have a ripple effect of positive energy out into all of the other areas of my life.  So – here we go!

Goal #1 – MIND

Daily meditation.   I have a new car…a great big white infiniti!  I haven’t ever really loved a car, in fact, never even cared. But… I am in love with this car!  Her name is Bianca and she is fabulous.  I hope that in 2013, I can learn to understand all of her bells and whistles!!!!!  Each day, I am finding my break from the world is in my beloved Bianca.  You might see me parked under a tree away from the rest of the world spending the much needed 20 minutes….meditating!  It seems to be the only space I can find that completely frees me from interruption!  Laughable, I know, but soooo true!!!!!

Goal #2 – Body

I am going to start doing YOGA.  As m any of you know, I am battling two frozen shoulders.  They are both painful and excruciating.  Only 3% of the population contract two frozen shoulders.  I have tried everything including accupunture, massage, etc.  Finally, I had a much dreaded coritzone shot and am better.  I will be undergoing 6 months of physical therapy.  I think a little YOGA can help as well, so I am commited to this a good path for me.

Goal #3 – Spirit

I am going to Mepkin Abbey in Monks Corner for a day to clear my head.  Once, when I was completely stressed out, I went for one week and practiced the art of the Grand Silence.  It was the most beautiful break I have ever had.  The trees there are at least 300 years old and the most magnificent things I have ever seen (and I have really seen magnificent!).  I was immediately reconnected to both God and beauty.  I cannot wait to tap into that again.

So, here it is.  Laid out before me, and before you to see.  I would love to connect with some of you to find out what have been the highlights of the last year and also what your intentions are as you move forward.  How can we continue to support one another as a community?  How can we be equally as fabulous on the outside as we feel on the inside?  Perhaps that is the question I will be asking myself more and more in 2013.  I look forward to sharing my continued journey in the world of design with you – as well as sharing the light of what I learn on my own personal journey.

Now – more than ever – Go and have an It’s So Fabulous Day!
