South Carolina Interior Designer Gets Goal Oriented!
I can honestly say I think about this on a regular basis. I constantly strive to be a better designer; I want my wildest dreams to come true; I hope to be the best parent I can be to my children; I will never stop learning – and this goes on and on. My drive to “reach for the stars” has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. When my friends and clients ask me how I manage to get so many things done and always seem to have a new project on the horizon while never skipping a beat to attend my daughters horse show or get up at sunrise for my weekly yoga class, I say it is simple – I am goal oriented.
I have been a designer for a VERY long time. I set goals for myself when I first began that seemed SO far away at the time. I dreamt of one day having my own team of designers that worked with me to help keep southern design alive. I envisioned a store where the community could gather and would be MORE than just a place to come and pick out cushions for your sofa. If I stopped anywhere along the way, I would never be able to realize those dreams coming true right before my very eyes! And, the quote above is SO TRUE! The time is going to pass anyway (and we are not getting any younger!), so why not devote yourself to seeking and manifesting what will give you the most fufillment!
So, a good question to ask when you are thinking about goals, dreams and how the heck you are going to get there is – ARE YOU HAPPY?? I can say from experience that there have been many times when I was not able to reach a goal, and when I got honest with myself, it was because what I was doing was not making me happy. I recommend re-assesing your happiness on a weekly basis! Now, don’t get me wrong! There are definitely things I have to do that are not my favorite!! (like taxes, laundry, cardio… lol) But when I know that the end goal is something that will give me ultimate satisfaction when I achieve it, it makes those tasks a little more tolerable.
You can’t let anyone or anything get in the way of your dreams and goals. We all have experienced negative people in our lives, obstacles, challenges, etc. You know what they say, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” and I believe that 110%!
I promise. It’s worth it.
Now, here is some amazing advice that I need to remember from time to time. Just because I am determined to see my goals and dreams come true – you just have those days (sometimes weeks and sometimes even months) that the stars don’t align. It is important to remember to not lose hope! One bad day, bad week, bad month or tough year could be the very catalyst you need to spring you to a level you could never imagine.
We are all so very blessed to live in a country where we have opportunities and freedom. We are given the gift of possibility and potential – and I intend to make the most of mine. When I get into a slump and am feeling not creative or like the world is against me, I remember that I have the power to change my attitude and outlook on any situation in my life. While the reality of life may not change, the way I react to it sure can.
I don’t know what I would do without faith in my life! The world is so big and the universe even more grand. I have to believe that we are all here for a special and unique purpose and that every moment and every experience is placed perfectly in my path to help me get closer to my goals and dreams.
So, are you ready to go out there and make some dreams come true? I would love to know about it!
