Cozy Spaces (Part 3): Fabric-Draped Beds

This week’s blog posts have been all about traversing to cozy spaces found in luxury interior design. Attic rooms and window seats certainly fit that description, but perhaps my favorite -and one of the coziest of all interior design choices! – is the fabric-draped bed! There is just something opulent, yet warm-fuzzy, about beds covered with fabric. They provide that same “cocoon” type of feeling as snuggling under a down comforter on a crisp winter morning. Through the years, I have designed many bed draperies and canopies for my interior design clients at Knotting Hill Interiors…. And I never remember being disappointed a single time in making the choice to go that extra mile. Somehow, adding a fabric-draped bed always seems to contribute that super-fabulous, custom design component that gives the space an amazing zing!

There are many different styles and modifications that may be applied to the creation of fabric-covered beds. Some of the choices are simple and only require adding ready-made fabric panels to beds with upper rails, whereas some canopied beds are completely custom-designed. Take a look at some examples of fabulous fabric-draped beds that truly take you want to EXHALE…. and hit that snooze button just one more time…..

Photos from Veranda:

I love the coordinating dark fabric on the inside of this bedding design!

The way the fabric drapes on this bed adds romance and elegance to the design.

These types of bed cornices provide a much more tailored and "crisp" feel.

This fabric-draped bed starts at the ceiling, adding to the incredible drama of the space.

These "casual" bed panels feel soothing and organic.

Photos from My Ideal Home:

Wispy and relaxing....

Wow! It reminds me of a winter wonderland in lavender! Lovely.

I can almost feel the tropical breeze from this fabric-draped bed!

These sheer panels are both soothing and romantic.

Photos from Traditional Home:

Cool blue panels blend beautifully with the neutrals in this space.

So feminine... like a beautiful, flowing ball gown.

Bold color choices make this design dramatic and unique.

Ohhhh.... the clean, white walls and bedding contrasting against the dark wood give this traditional space a tropical accent.

Designs by Michael S. Smith:

This design provides a "hood" of fabric over the bed.

This neutral color palette only adds to the soothing appeal of this tailored design.

This bed is dripping with fabric and elegance.

Dressy-casual appeal!

Grown-up "pretty in pink"!

And here's the younger version of a pink design. So girly!
